Jimmy Padanilam Center for Special Needs currently identifies special talents of people of all ages with special needs, encourages them to improve their proficiency with the aim of making them as independent as possible.
At the Special Needs Center, individuals with emotional, intellectual or physical handicaps are considered a blessing and not a disgrace. Children unable to keep up with the average students are often branded retarded or incompetent or uneducable. They are often marginalized causing loss of self-confidence leading to lower achievement. Many of them have hidden talents that separate them from the ‘average’. The family, close relatives and the community at large, often are not proud of them and do not encourage the development of their natural abilities. With the help of the teachers trained specially to supervise these individuals with special needs, their specific talents are identified. Training is given to develop the specific talent of each person to eventually make them as self-sufficient and independent as possible.
